The bridge towers above its secluded valley setting, and visitors may catch views from the bridge itself or take a short hike down into the valley to explore the wildly varied vegetation and snap a few pictures from below. Bring a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon scrambling up and down the short but steep trails. The original lodge, inhabited by Scottish settlers in 1877, still stands and is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
